Brighten the World with Color and Compassion

It has been said that the depth of a person’s heart can be measured by their love for animals. Doe Deere, artist, musician, and founder of Lime Crime Make Up produces vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics to improve confidence, and lift the spirit.

Lime Crime came on a whim with the creation of an eBay store. The name is as original as the woman who came up with it. One of the nice things about today’s world is that through the internet, the opportunities to develop a successful business are endless. According to Deere, anything is possible with a vision, a belief in yourself, and the courage to trust your instincts, and take a chance.

Creativity is nothing new for Doe Deere. From an early age she demonstrated a sense of adventure, inspired by the world around her. For Deere, every individual creates their own story, part of which is how one presents one’s self to the rest of the world. Through her own life experiences and self-discovery, she got to know herself well and, she understood that self-awareness is a key for connecting with consumers. That philosophy reflects the mission of her company to provide a product in demand that encourages self-expression and self-exploration. As a means for self-expression, Lime Green makeup boasts brilliant colors, and sense of style. For Deere, it was quite simple – develop a line of makeup that other companies were not offering, the crazier the color, the better. The concept caught on, and the rest is history.

Doe is, and always has been an entrepreneur at heart. Her journey from musician to one of the most successful female entrepreneurs (according to Self-Made magazine) brought her from Russia to New York to Los Angeles. New York, however, is where she came of age, matured, met her soulmate. New York is where she dared to dream then do something about it. Her journey has made her who she is today – businesswoman, mentor, and motivational speaker.

Deere has been asked many times what advice she would give to others with an entrepreneurial spirit. Her answer is to embrace that sense of adventure, run with it without looking back. Seek to exceed your potential without compromising your moral principles.

Doe credits her good fortune to her customers whom she says teach her how to improve her line of makeup. For her, it is simple. Listen, learn, and make a good thing better. Always trust your instincts.

With that in mind, she is aware that to be blessed carries a great responsibility to give back. Lime Crime Makeup has continued to make a difference in peoples’ lives, but Doe does not stop there. Deere has taken up the cause of animal welfare as a way to brighten up the lives of our furry friends. She donates to support no-kill shelters, and has also adopted animals herself.

For all the ways Doe has made the world a better place, for her compassion and kindness, I wish her continued success. Learn more:

Hussain Sajwani Completes The Circle of Success

As a schoolboy, Hussain Sajwani worked long hours after school for his father in the family business in Dubai. The variety store that his father owned sold Chinese imports, office supplies, and consumer goods, and although Hussain got lots of good experience, the long hours were at times a little too much for a young boy.

He told his father that when he grew up he would certainly not be a businessman because of the long hours, but that he would prefer to be a professional with a degree so he would be able to work regular hours.

Hussain earned a degree from the University of Washington majoring in economics and engineering. He then traveled back home to Dubai and worked for a Dubai gas company as an engineer. However, that career only lasted for a short time as he capitalized on a very good opportunity that came his way. He formed a catering firm that sold food to the United States Army during the Gulf Wars that occurred in that region in the early 90s.

That was a very successful business and it paved the way for Sajwani’s later successes. He learned a great deal about running a large business from that experience. The catering company is still in business today.

In 2002, Sajwani formed DAMAC Properties, a real estate development and management company. He had guessed correctly that when the UAE loosened the restrictions on immigration, allowing foreign nationals to permanently settle in the UAE, that there would be somewhat of a land and real estate boom. DAMAC would become the foundation of wealth for the Hussain Sajwani family.

That is exactly what occurred and people quickly took to the wonderfully built luxury apartments and villas that had rapidly become the trademark of DAMAC. Sajwani was a master promoter and marketer, and the demand was great because of his efforts. In fact, his first project was completely sold out before any construction had even begun.

The DAMAC owner was very conservative in running his business, as he always paid cash for the land, and financed very little of the rest of the project. In this manner, the entire business model was very solid.

Cells Phones as Weapons? The Urgent Public Saftey Issue of Inmates’ Access to Contraband Cell Phones

Cell phones and smartphones are awesome tools for connecting with friends and loved ones and for simply getting things done. Normally, a cell phone would never be considered a weapon, but prisons are not normal environments to say the least.

Robert Johnson definitely knows such environments very well. As a 15-year veteran corrections officer (CO) working primarily on one of the most difficult and dangerous tasks for a CO –- uncovering and seizing contraband -– Johnson experienced what a lot of prison workers dread. In March of 2010, his professional life came crashing into his everyday life with an ear-splitting bang.

A large man, an intruder, had exploded through Johnson’s door early that March morning with a gun, intent on killing him. As the pieces were fitted together later, it turned out that a particularly heinous prison gang had put a contract out on Johnson’s life about two weeks before, when he and his fellow team of officers had intercepted a package containing what was estimated to be $50,000 in undisclosed contraband.

While Johnson was shot six times in the torso, he miraculously survived. Seven years later he is in constant pain but refuses to stop his advocacy efforts to bolster his former co-workers in tackling the mounting public-safety problem of contraband cell phones in the hands of inmates.

Why is Johnson so tireless in his efforts? The despicable gang that arranged for the attempt on his life had both paid off and communicated with the would-be assassin by using a smuggled-in cell phone. Another example demonstrating why Johnson never stops advocating is the horrific and tragic case of the murder of a baby, coordinated via a cell phone by locked-up convicts trying to send a gang-land message.

To pay the bills as well as continue his advocacy efforts, Johnson now works as a consultant with Securus Technologies. Securus Technologies is an industry-leading provider of technology solutions for civil and criminal justice concerns all across the country.

Securus — in particular their innovative Wireless Containment Solutions (WCS) division — is the perfect place for Johnson to work at because they can boast of owning the nation’s only prison cell phone interdiction service.

After having spent a considerable length of time and money –- reports are that WCS cost over $40 million to develop and deploy -– Securus recently released their first internal data, in effect showing the technology in action. It showed that between July 2016 and July 2017, their WCS service stopped dead in its tracks 1.7 million unauthorized calls emanating from behind the eight prison walls where the service was active.

As part of his current work, Johnson was in Washington last March to testify before the Federal Communications Commission. The FCC is a huge player in Johnson’s and other public safety advocates’ efforts because the current federal law makes clear that any and all attempts to “jam” or wholly block a cell signal is illegal.

Securus Technologies’ ingenious side-step solution is to simply build their own miniature, on-site cell network to monitor calls originating from inside the prison. The service simply declines to allow any unauthorized numbers through to the wider network, though all 911 calls are allowed to connect.

What Shiraz Boghani Means To Sussex Healthcare

Since Shiraz Boghani is the chairman of Sussex Healthcare, he has been able to make a difference in the company. He knows there are different things the company needs and he has tried to always give them the opportunities that will allow them to keep growing to new heights. For Shiraz Boghani to try these things, he had to be prepared to make things better for his company. He decided the best way to do things would be to put together new opportunities for people who were in different situations.

He also knew these things would allow Shiraz Boghani the chance to try and make everything better on his own. While Shiraz Boghani knew a lot of the business had to do with him, he also knew there were things that would allow him to grow the company when he was in different areas of business according to

Shiraz Boghani had to work with many different people to make sure he was helping them with the opportunities they had in business. He had to show them there would be changes and he had to make sure they would know what would happen if he was working toward a more positive future for Sussex Healthcare. There have been many times when Sussex Healthcare has been better than other companies and many of those times have been because of what Shiraz Boghani has done for them.

By focusing on everything he has done with certain companies and with partnerships that he has, Shiraz Boghani has been able to help people have a better understanding of the way the healthcare system works.

He also makes sure they know that hospitality is a huge part of the business. If they are just providing healthcare and aren’t able to do anything else other than that, they aren’t actually giving their patients the best experience they can.

Instead, they’re not giving them a good option with the hotel-like feel they have in different companies and areas. It has helped Shiraz Boghani to make things better.

Lime Crime: How Doe Deere Created Cosmetics for “Unicorns”

How did a Russian teenager go from dreams of making it big in the states as a musician to a bona fide makeup mogul? The same entrepreneurial spirit that inspired Doe Deere to bring temporary tattoos to Russia at only 13 years old would later help her create Lime Crime and fulfill the need for makeup in a wide variety of unconventional colors.

Deere immigrated to New York City in 1998 at the age of 17 and quickly joined a band. A fellow songwriter and bandmate from this time would even eventually become both her business partner and her husband. It was also around this time that she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology and majored in fashion design.

Deere has credited her fashion background as being intertwined with her interest in makeup, and it is indeed what led to the very beginnings of Lime Crime. Inspired by her favorite color, Deere registered the name for her eBay account in 2004 so she could sell items from her original fashion line.

It would be a decade after she arrived in the United States when Deere would bring Lime Crime to the makeup industry. It was 2008 when Deere began to notice the lack of makeup options for more adventurous colors. The natural look was in and the shelves were full of blushes and beiges, but none of the wild colors that Deere and others like her craved.

Lime Crime produces a variety of lipsticks, nail polishes, eye shadows, and hair dye in bright, eye-catching colors that don’t often otherwise get seen on the shelves in the beauty supply section. In keeping with her love of everything colorful and pastel, Deere refers to fans of her cosmetics as “unicorns.”

One of Deere’s self-proclaimed biggest accomplishments was making sure that Lime Crime was a cruelty-free and vegan brand of makeup, meaning Deere’s makeup is neither tested on animals nor contains ingredients derived from animals. Lime Crime brand makeup is certified by both PETA and Leaping Bunny, one of the strictest certifiers of cruelty-free products.

Deere lived in New York for around 14 years before moving to Los Angeles in 2012. Her story inspires others to create what they want to see for the like-minded audience that is almost certainly out there. It will be very exciting to see what Deere has in store in the future for her unicorns. Learn more:

Corporate lawyer Jeremy Goldstein advocating knockout options

The founder of Jeremy L. Goldstein & Associates is talking to corporate executives and explaining to them the benefit of knockout options. Most employers are dropping the employees’ stock options in recent years, and Jeremy Goldstein says there are three reasons for that decision. First, if the value drops without notice, it will be harder to execute and companies will be forced to deal with the expenses. Jeremy Goldstein also believes that employees believe that the option could become worthless as time progress and the market fluctuates. He also points out that options create more financial issues that could negate any of the financial advantages of the options. Jeremy Goldstein still believes in stock options because employees have an easy time understanding options.

Knockout options are able to increase the profit for workers if the company’s stock value rises. Jeremy Goldstein says these options would help boost morale of employees and get them to work harder at keeping and gaining new clients. The option is still usable for employers while also avoiding the costs associated with it. One option that avoids recurring costs to employers is the knockout option.

The knockout option is an option that an employee loses if the value falls below a set value. The company can set a timeframe for which the price should be down for a knockout. The knockout also benefits current stakeholders as well. Jeremy Goldstein is a top corporate lawyer based in New York City. He has experience in corporate governance and executive compensation.

Jeremy Goldstein has advised CEOs and upper management on the issue of corporate governance. Before starting his own firm, he was a partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz. Jeremy Goldstein received his J.D. from New York University School of Law. Jeremy Goldstein continues to advise executives across the world.

Securus Technologies Helping Officers Keep Order

Each day that I arrive at the local jail to start my day as a corrections officer, I realize I could be injured or worse by inmates who have become more violent towards authority in recent years. Not only do we have inmates who are serving long sentences and have nothing to lose, but we have young gang members who want to impress their group by showing they have no fear. Being outnumbered and in such a volatile situation makes it difficult to maintain order some days, but technology has given us help in the most unlikely ways.

Over the years my team has been able to make use of the latest technology to secure our facility. The scanners we now use in the visitor center have significantly reduced the amount of contraband brought to the jail by way of guests. These guests are warned before they enter our facility they will be scanned, and many decide it is not worth jail time getting caught trying to pass something to the inmates. These body scanners are also used on the inmates so they can not being anything to the visitor center or take something to their cells after the interaction with guests.

Securus Technologies helped us to tighten down security even further. This company released a call monitoring system used in jails to listen to what the inmates say while using the house phones. The big difference here is that officers are no longer needed to manually listen to calls, the LBS software does the scanning of every second of every call. If an inmate is talking about weapons, about drug use, or about gang issues, the software notifies an officer on the spot.

This latest technology has finally given officers the ability to tighten up security inside the jail and make it a safer place for anyone who has to spend a second behind these walls.

Doe Deere Changes the Makeup Game

Doe Deere is someone that has managed to bring forth the whole new wave of cosmetics. She wanted to create her own clothing line when she initially started her entrepreneurial endeavors, but she would find more success in cosmetics. She would move away from the original eBay store to creating the Lime Crime website. This is where her customers have gotten a chance to experience a completely new type of cosmetics in the form of eyeliner, lipstick, lip gloss and nail polish.

When consumers come across makeup shades like blue flame, serpentina and zany colors called alien they know that they are experiencing the innovation of Doe Deere.

She is someone that has become known for her unique naming conventions and makeup colors. Many people that go to the website will indulge in the bundles because it allows them to get a variety of lipstick shades and save money in the process. The California Love bundle and the Venus bundle are considered among the best sellers for the website that Doe Deere created.

Doe Deere has definitely managed to bring forth a whole new concept when it comes to building up her brand. She has managed to engage in a lot different things that can entice consumers. Right now the focus is on the semi-permanent hair dye that has recently become a part of the products that she is selling through Lime Crime. Learn more:

Doe Deere has always been very innovative, but most people would not have guessed that she would transform her company into one where it would expand to hair dye products. This is not something that is common in the industry where cosmetics are sold. The major players in the cosmetics industry like Revlon and Covergirl are sticking to makeup and eyeliner primarily. These companies have never branched out into something as daring and risky as hair dye, but that is what makes Doe Deere different.

She has never been afraid to go against what is happening in the mainstream. In fact, one might say that Doe Deere has always been one to go against what was considered mainstream. This is how she has gained a level of loyalty from her fans.

She has a very interesting style, and part of this has been shown through her implementation of the makeup that she creates. Her style definitely plays a very important part in the way she builds her business. Learn more:
